How can I avoid War (a very small guide)

Posted on Jul 31st, 2006 by Leendert : Illuminator ES Leendert

"There are two things leading to War"; says Shakti Gawain on the last day of July in her book Awakening. One of them is when I identify unconsciously with the warrior inside of me, making me believe aggression is the only way to create a solution. That way leads to war openly. The second one is to consciously deny all aggression inside of myself which leads to the projection of my aggression to others and this will eventually create war too because of the denying of aggressive emotions. Sounds like a no win situation. Both ways strengthen each other so soon a situation exists where war is inevitable. The only way for me as a person to create Peace in this world is to accept both the Warrior in me and the Peaceful soul I am too, at the same time. I am both, we are both, and by accepting both, war is no longer needed because both energies are accepted. Now as a Peaceful Warrior I only have to focus on non violence as my main weapon and aim it to whomever needs to be overcome by light, nullify darkness creating this violence. I always remember this; darkness is easily found, just look for the violence and you will find it there.

Fighting it with the same weapons will not work but will make it worse. So there is another way, let us try and find it. I am thinking about Gandhi a lot lately....

It is easy to rip ourselves apart with the conflicting desires of war and peace. I've found Tonglin to help.

This, from my blog, some may find extremely challenging (That is why it is there!).

The 'unbearable' Truth of Non-violence.

“Nonviolence,” said an Indian proverb, “is the supreme law of life.”

This is absolutely true and, believe it or not, deny it or not, this even applies to “defending” that which we hold dearest.
However, we do have freedom of choice [and until we come to the realisation of the Truth in the proverb, and act accordingly we will not attain enlightenment].
