Valentines Day or The Love affair with the universe

I wrote one year ago:
This is the first Valentines Day in 12 years I will not pay any attention to. It's a bit crazy to send your almost ex wife a heart shaped box, so I write my daily chocolate box over here at zaadz. Today Shakti Gawain was waiting for me again....
(The radio plays: I am a loser baby, so why don't you kill me...)
The two essential principles of life are referred to in eastern philosophical practice as the Yin and Yang or Male and Female. The energy rhythm between these two polarities creates the magical dance of life. The female principle is in me and is representing my receiving, feminin, emphatetic aspects.
The male principle expresses itself by my force, power, whatever....and my ability to set a straight goal and undertake action. (thanks shakti never thought of it like that!)
If I can balance the two aspects and find harmony and unite myself I can create the love affair of the universe inside my own being. The "amour" of the Universe comes to an expression in my life.

Help

Happy Valentines Day to you, Leendert, and thanks for sharing your virtual chocolate with us.
Your recurring theme of polarities is interesting- so simple and so complicated.
My radio appreciates your radio’s sense of irony but is playing some John Hiatt this morning- ‘Slow Turning’ just to balance things out in radioland.
Celebrating the Higher Love that’s out there today and wishing you well,
Ann
Yeah. Thanks for the chocolate. I needed that. The theme of masculine and feminine expressions of Being keeps coming up in my life lately too. I guess one of them, the masculine or feminine, is usually dominant in a person, but we have to allow each to be expressed for our overall health. Peace, Kari
Thanks for mentioning Valentines Day! I am so not one of those girls that sits and dreams about a hero on a horse with a 2 lb diamond rock ready for my finger or neck.
The jewelry commercials have been insane the last few weeks. Some kind of rage builds within me when I hear them. Who said diamonds are a girls best friend? I think it is very undermining to us females. A diamond or any jewels for that matter are just shiny rocks. Good grief! My riding lawnmower is broke………if you want to spend alot of money honey……..buy me a new rider (is what I would say).
So speaking on the female/male thing…………some of us girls think about more than jewelry and make-up :-)
That said………………..I feel better………glad Valentines day is almost gone and the degrading commercials that come along with it.
Ok ….ok……..with that nerve out of the way.
Shakti Gawain?
My mother is very very much into “mother” earth. She spent years working for womans rights. I think this is awesome however I think sometimes she goes overboard. We were discussing the possibility of God being a woman the other day. But I don’t agree or understand I guess. Because I don’t see God seperated into either female or male. I see Him/Her/Them as ONE. The ying and they yang in full circle. Why would god need to be a gender anyway? It is not like God is out their creating with a stamen is it?
Right because “God” is the Ultimate, Divine, Ground of Being, Formless, Indescribable Doao that cannot be daoed…and something that is Formless doesn’t “need” gender. I am with you on that, Harticulate. Also, I am “not one of those girls that sits and dreams about a hero on a horse with a 2 lb diamond rock ready for my finger or neck.”
(I will use every opportunity to enjoy good dark chocolate though!)
Seriously, those jewelry commercials make me sick too. Peace, Kari
I don’t know what God is, I do know I care that it/he/she is. I also don’t care about valentines day. I do care about the rest of the world. And Shakti Gawain is being credited over here because her little book of conscious is really helping me.
Peace of mind
Ok Leedert……..so Shakti Gawain is a writer? What is the name of the book?
Is it funny to hear of a girl being agitated by Valentines Day? I am irritated with most holidays because they have all ended up being so very “commercialized”…….so I think that is where some of my angst is coming from.
Kari………………..lol on the chocolate :-)
Yes she is a writer and her book is a guide to consciousness. Awakening is the title.
No I don’t think it is funny, because it’s true it’s all a massive organised impulse for buying stuff. The true meaning of St. Valentine is not easy to find, do you know?
Have another chocolate that’s why they are there…..

Valentinus was a Christian Mystic who was considered a Gnostic. His understanding was that god is the unknown great source from which all matter ensues. And that great source is LOVE. I choose to not give the commercialism any energy by hating it. They are simply misguided by greed and power. But the power of LOVE is so much greater. And I hope we can recognize and honor the power of the feminine in us all - that which nurtures, complements, contains the mystery of birth and life AND really digs a good bit of chocolate.
I actually haven’t had any real chocolate all day, but was having figurative chocolate with you all. :-)
Things like universe earth and god and even human or animals or a flower or tree can’t be just male or female in my humble opinion.
Why?
Because it all equals Yin & Yang.
I believe ultimately Yin & Yang stands for good and bad, black and white, positive and negative. No universe earth and God and even human or animals or a flower or tree can be only negative. We and everything are one in all this Yin an Yang.
Yes we are indeed all one. The Great Turning, as Rumi is translated. I think for the past couple hundred years we have developed this yang/male capacity to a great degree. The ability to focus into, to differentiate one aspect of the ocean from the other. It has brought us to some immense understanding - into the smallest and into the largest. If we didn’t have that, we would never have discovered that the earth is round. Nor would we have discovered that there is no There there in an atom. We are living in a vast ocean of dark matter. That’s where the feminine comes in. ascknowledging the background, the context from which all our specificity is born.
Deeper than yin/yang is Tao Te. “Of the things we can discern yin and yang are the deepest. “ But yin/yang reside within Te the oneness. Where does that oneness come from? the Tao, the great unknown unformed potential, or god, if you must.
One of the writers about Tao Te is Lao Tzu. I read the Tao Te Ching 12 years ago, it was impressive. Just looked at it again an got goosebumps still….
