A Blackbird Drama

A Blackbird Drama; Watching the (inner) children
23/4/2006

They are living in my front Garden a Blackbird couple in the low bushes. They built two nests every year, for the 3th year now. So we are kind of used  to each other. In the beginning of the breathing season, when it is still very cold at night, I feed them every morning. I drink Green Tea and sit for my window, watching them eat and they look inside my kitchen. Sometimes they are earlier then I am and they seem to look agitated. They are little birds but if you watch them closely you will discover a hidden fantastic dramatic world of existence. I learned  incredible valuable lessons because of these Blackbirds. The first experience that really mattered was the first year. During breathing of the young second nest the mother got attacked by a cat that killed her. I saw it but I was to late, I was so angry I ran outside and saw the cat run, then I saw something I will never forget. The male Blackbird was flying after the cat and attacked it viciously. Screaming very loud in pure agony!. It was a lost battle but still he followed and attacked. What a character!

The rest of the season I admired the little fellow because he brought up two young blackbirds on his own. The next year he came back with another lady.

Now for the third year the Drama continues. Today I was looking outside my kitchen window when I saw an unusual bird for the city, it looked like a grey blueish short wing sparrow hawk. He was sitting in the tree, picking a Blackbird chick. Terrible but like the cat story it is part of Nature, but.......I felt sorry. Then I saw something amazing AGAIN. The chick was already death and was picked clean for diner, suddenly I saw the Blackbird couple very close to the hawk in the tree. Screaming at him! That was not enough. The lady Bird attacked him by flying over his had. It did little but I was amazed by the Glory and Guts. It was going on for 10 minutes and I was shocked about the fact only the female attacked. The male Blackbird was jumping up and down to higher branches. Then another amazing thing. Suddenly the male dives down and bitterly crushes into the hawk. The hawk looses his balance and the prey falls down. With noticeable disillusion, the hawk flies a way. The complete scenery took 20 minutes. In within seconds after this the female bird is back on the nest, on the remaining chicks and the male blackbird is doing his usual business, finding food. Wow, what a sight!

Writing and thinking about my own drama's as a child and as an adult, I suffered but I deeply respect the life of those little birds! I have learned from their courage to defend their children and love ones even when it is too late! As if they want to make sure they will never do it again. I can acknowledge to these little birds. This is another fine example how to deal with the inner and earthly children. We as parents need to fight for them no matter what happens! That is the way it is and that is the way it shall always be.

By watching everything very closely, I keep in touch with my inner children, they call me, Hey look in the tree, look at the sky, look at the flower, a bird, a sound......a smell...

Save our (Inner) Children
(and if you can; take care for ALL animals)

namaste Leendert;

It is truly awesome to see what You have witnessed…..I too have seen similar dramas unfold watching nature. At times like these I see how great and wonderful creation  is, and that perhaps we are no different when it comes to protecting our children.

I have an older child than Yours, but no matter how old they are one still considers them one`s baby, even if they are seventy years old. And even then one tends to even give their lives for them. Always  want the best for them, want more for them than one ever had, and be more than one ever was.

But, that is not always the case. And sometimes it is difficult to know which approach to take, how to raise them. I have seen , and from my own experience  I have found that only a small percentage has to do with with me. It really all comes from within….I see in my own life, family by being raised the same way we have become totally different  …some have become very successful, others haven`t. Yet all from the same stock, same soil. And the funny thing is the one`s who were infact more loved, spoiled, molly coddled are the one`s that haven`t really turned out that well…so I wonder.

Yes, we all say nurture with love, undestanding, positive, guidanc, positive  re-inforcement….but sometimes no matter what You do it dosn`t work. Nobody believes this, only when walks in the same moccasins. And that sometimes is very painful for a parent.

Throught the years one tries to protect them, guide them and want to spare them from pain. But unfortunately human nature is such that the ego is such that we seldom learn from the experience of others. And often they go through the same mistakes,
heartaches …and often a lot of pain is involved in the learning process.

I suppose that we were given free will, and this is one area where the human spirit manifests this, yet it is very painful, sometimes more painful for a parent to watch one`s child going through these experiences, when with the eyes of a parent it seems so easy to prevent.

All my life was , is lived for my family…yet had I been more selfish, more living my own life, being less concerned for them…I think I would be in the same place, maybe better. I really feel that part didn`t make much of a dent in the scheme of things. Not that I`m a martyr for it was strictly my choice coming out of love, coming from love….but I don`t think that it is ever appreciated, not that I did it for that purpose.

I see parents who practically throw their children to the elements, haven`t really been good parents, yet become most respected, appreciated, loved by their children. Wheras one who sacrifices, lives life for, gives them all gets no respect or appreciation…..and expect everything from the parent as being a duty.

I suppose had I done differently…I would be writing the same post……I guess we all become whom God wants us to be.

Ah yes…I hear You Leendert….but wait for those moccasins…LOL. It`s hard being a parent…the bigger they get, the harder the job!

…what did all this do with the birds…well just a trigger in my head about parenting!

love & light….

Hi Leendert,

have written a beautiful poem, the story of the Blackbirds., with a beautiful photograph. Your observation is so intense and deep, and your description so artistic.

I recognise your heart and mind, you are really exceptional — a promise for the mankind.

Your story represents the vital world, with natural beauty. And there is the continued fight between the good and the beautiful, on the one hand, and on the other hand, the shrewd and the evil, like the cat and the hawk.
In the human world, too, the same story is being repeated many a time. Many a time the evil, the crooked, the bad one wins. The innocent and the helpless suffers. The Saviour cannot reach, as He is not called. Our voice does not reach Him, as we do not reach Him. But He is there. We the human beings are not really conscious of Him, or of Her, The Divine Mother. Our minds are filled up with darkness and disbelief and lack of faith and trust — and we suffer. We continue to be the victims of the worldly cats and hawks.
Let us walk towards the New Horizon, work for the New World — the Supramental World, the Future Eden on earth.
Let us walk and work together.

Sincerely

Barin

Beautiful post…

By Steven Ray.

Everything is beautiful in its own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day.
And everybody's beautiful in their own way.
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find the way.

There is none so blind as he who will not see.
We must not close our minds; we must let our thoughts be free.
For every hour that passes by, we know the world gets a little bit older.
It's time to realize that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

And everything is beautiful in its own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day.
Oh, sing it children!
Everybody's beautiful in their own way.
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find the way.

We shouldn't care about the length of his hair, or the color of his skin.
Don't worry about what shows from without, but the love that lives within.
And we're gonna get it all together now; everything gonna work out fine.
Just take a little time to look on the good side my friend,
And straighten it out in your mind.

And everything is beautiful in its own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day.
Ah, sing it children!
Everybody's beautiful in their own way,
Under God's heaven the world's gonna find a way.
One more time!
Everything is beautiful in its own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's day…

Dear Leendert,

I know I'm a little late in the game here- I've been out of town so didn't get to read this post until today. Your story of the birds swept me up this morning.  I can tell it will stay with me today.  Thanks for giving me something to keep for a while- to work with.  I and my various children (inner ones and rowdy outer ones) will benefit.

love to you,

Ann

That's a great gift of observation and power of storytelling!  Your heart and your words honored the birds- their lives and death!  For that, thank you!
